Vancouver Gastown food tour with 7 tastings and a secret dish

Discover Gastown's food scene on a guided walking tour, tasting pork sandwiches, Scotch eggs, hand-made doughnuts and artisan chocolate with local history. A food tour is the kind of experience that changes the way you see a city and lets you know its real essence. Gastown is where Vancouver began, and the streets your clients will walk through tell the story of a city that burnt to the ground in 1886 and rebuilt itself into one of Canada's most distinctive eating destinations. An expert local guide leads the way, taking small groups of up to 12 through the spots that locals actually eat at — the ones that have earned their place over decades. The food reflects the neighbourhood's character. A slow-roasted pork sandwich that's been in the oven since the night before, carved to order on ciabatta with house salsa verde, one of the most replicated sandwiches in Canada, and the original is right here. Classic Scotch eggs seasoned in-house, served in a pub that's been in the same building since 1910. The Crack Bar is from a bakery that started at the Whistler Farmers' Market and grew to eight BC locations: shortbread, salted caramel, and dark chocolate. And our Secret Dish, revealed only on the day.The menu varies by departure time. The 10am tour is built for the morning hour: Vancouver's most beloved hand-made doughnut, fried fresh daily since 1979, and fermented veggie toast on sourdough baked that morning with hummus and pickled vegetables made entirely in-house. The 12pm and 4pm tours add a chicken taco from one of Gastown's most consistent kitchens and house-made artisan chocolate from a small local producer.

Victoria food tour with 7 tastings in Old Town and Chinatown

Explore Victoria's Old Town and Chinatown on a guided food tour, tasting seafood chowder, chocolate, tacos and barbecue pork buns with local history. Seven tastings and 150 years of gold rush history fill this walk through two neighbourhoods most visitors never connect on their own. It starts at a takeaway window on the Inner Harbour causeway, where guests eat seafood chowder standing up with the Legislature and the float planes across the water (a South Indian dosa replaces it from October to March, when the window closes for the season). From there the route moves into Old Town, the brick warehouse district built on 1858 gold rush money, for a guided tasting of oils and balsamics, dark chocolate cream from a chocolatier making the same recipe since the 1880s, and a bakery item that changes with the day of the week. A tuna taco follows at a beer hall inside a restored nineteenth-century market square. The tour finishes in Chinatown, Canada's oldest, walking beneath carved stone lions to a barbecue pork bun from a counter that has hung its pork the same way for generations. Tuesday to Saturday departures close with a Secret Dish, never named in advance. A local guide leads the walk, sharing the history behind every stop along the way, and Secret Food Tours keeps the group small so there's always time for questions.
